How to qualify

  • To qualify for Rent Upfront as a tenant, we’d ask the below:

  • Proof of accepted offer and tenancy

A draft tenancy agreement from a landlord or lettings agency regarding a property in the UK.

  • University or employment details

An accepted place at university or employment contract.

  • Ability to afford rent

Whether via bank statement or parental guarantors, proof of your ability to pay the proposed rent.

No need for a UK guarantor

Whether you are moving to the UK or this is the first time renting a property, you don’t need a UK guarantor to qualify for Scraye’s Rent Upfront service.

FAQs

Scraye allows tenants who would ordinarily be asked to pay rent upfront to pay monthly instead. We would use our proprietary system to confirm your ability to pay the proposed rent and we would then pay rent upfront to your landlord on your behalf. You would then pay Scraye rent on a monthly basis until the amount of rent paid upfront is repaid, plus a service fee.

Yes, all tenants who can provide proof of the ability to pay the proposed rent are eligible.

Each tenancy is unique. Our terms may differ depending on where you are in your tenancy and the risk of termination. If a tenancy break clause is activated during a period of rent paid upfront, we would ask you to refund Scraye for the rent paid for the period after you vacate the property. Depending on the tenancy agreement, you would likely recover this rental payment from the landlord.
