Why Deposit Share

How does Scraye Deposit Share work?

Scraye covers most of your security deposit so you only pay a small share upfront. Your landlord receives the full deposit on day one and you keep the same statutory protection — lower barrier to moving in, nothing changes for the landlord.

Spend less to move in

Stop a five-week deposit from draining your savings before you’ve even unpacked.

Your landlord remains fully protected

Your landlord gets the deposit from Scraye so they remain protected as usual.

You get your share back

Your 15% contribution is returned to you at the end of your tenancy — it’s not a fee, it’s your money.

FAQ

Get to know our Deposit Solutions

Everything tenants ask before applying with Scraye.

Can I still pay a traditional security deposit if I wish to?+
Yes, just let a Scraye team member know when you submit an offer and we will reflect this accordingly. If you've selected a deposit solution, you can opt out and replace it with your own deposit at any time, penalty-free.
Who is responsible for protecting the security deposit paid by Scraye?+
Your landlord or letting agent is responsible for protecting the security deposit paid by Scraye for your tenancy with a deposit protection scheme.
What happens at the end of my tenancy?+
The deposit is returned by the landlord or managing agent in the usual way. For Deposit Share, each gets the share they contributed at the beginning — 15% by you and 85% by Scraye.
Do I get my 15% contribution back?+
Yes. Your 15% is your share of the deposit — it is returned to you at the end of your tenancy, minus any deductions agreed between you and your landlord. It is not a fee.
Who is responsible for unpaid rent, damages and deductions?+
Per the usual way, at the end of the tenancy the landlord may propose deductions. You can dispute them via the dispute and resolution mechanism of the deposit protection scheme through which your deposit was protected. Should there be any deductions you agree on or as decided by the relevant deposit protection scheme, the deductions will be removed from your share of the deposit.
